Choosing a dorm should not feel like solving a mystery with one blurry photo, three outdated Reddit comments, and a parent Facebook group thread from 2018.

That is why we created Tampa Dorm Guru.

We wanted one place where UTampa students and families could find real dorm information before move-in: actual room photos, building details, furniture notes, room reviews, and the kind of practical information people actually care about.

Not just the polished brochure version.

The real version.

The “how big is the desk?” version.

The “is there enough space under the bed for storage bins?” version.

The “wait, where is the laundry room?” version.

The “please tell me this room does not look like a supply closet with a window” version.

Why We Built This

When you are trying to pick or understand a college dorm, the information online can be scattered. Some buildings have good photos. Some have almost none. Some room layouts are easy to understand. Others feel like they require architectural training and emotional support.

Tampa Dorm Guru is meant to make that easier.

Our goal is to help students and families get a clearer idea of what each UTampa residence hall is really like before move-in day.

That includes:

• Real dorm photos

• Room details

• Furniture information

• Bathroom and window notes

• Building amenities

• Student-submitted reviews

• Tips from people who have actually lived there

Because yes, knowing whether a room has good storage can matter. A lot. Especially when someone is trying to bring the entire contents of their bedroom from home and still somehow expects the mini fridge, coffee maker, shoe rack, laundry hamper, fan, mirror, and emergency snack bin to fit.

What You’ll Find Here

Tampa Dorm Guru is organized by residence hall, so you can explore buildings like Austin Hall, Morsani Hall, Vaughn Center, Palm Apartments, Grand Center, and others.

Each building page is designed to give you a quick feel for the residence hall: where it is, what the rooms are like, what amenities are available, and what students should know.

For rooms where we have verified details, we also include individual room pages with more specific information, such as furniture, photos, layout notes, bathroom details, and student reviews when available.

Some rooms and buildings will have more information than others at first. That is normal.

The site will grow as students submit photos, reviews, and room details.

This is meant to be a living resource, not a one-time list that gets abandoned and quietly ages into internet dust.

We Need Student Help

The best dorm information comes from students who have actually lived in the rooms.

If you have dorm photos, a room tour, furniture measurements, move-in tips, or a brutally honest but still appropriate review, we would love for you to share it.

Your review could help the next student figure out what to bring, what to leave home, and whether that “must-have” extra storage cart is actually useful or just another object to trip over at 2 a.m.

You can submit a dorm review directly through the site once it is live. You can also reach out if you have photos or a room tour video you are willing to share.
